Getting to know the SIMBULANs
A new member of the of the Board of
Trustees of the St. James COPA Foundation
was voted into its ranks in the Board of
Trustees’ meeting of Apr 27.  The new
addition to the SJ COPA Board is Mr. Matias
D. Simbulan in his capacity as Head
Coordinator of the Social Action Ministry
(SAM).

While Mr. Simbulan and his wife, Veronica,
were designated as Head Coordinators of
the Social Action Ministry also on Apr. 27, the
formal turnover of duties from long-time SAM
Head Coordinators, Chito and Rica
Limcaoco,  to  the Simbulan couple followed
on April 30 with SJC Chairman Msgr. Ernie
Joaquin, SJC Pres. Ramon Abejuela and
SAM team leaders all witnessing the
ceremony.
The SJ COPA Foundation and the Social Action Ministry offer Matt and Nena a warm welcome
The newest SAM Head Coordinator couple, Matias and Veronica Simbulan - more fondly called as Matt
and Nena - are our neighbors in the Village and are from BEC District 1.  Let’s get to know them better.
Matt, born in Pampanga and raised in Manila, is an insurance man.  He was connected with the
Malayan Insurance Company until his retirement.  Thereafter, he was asked to join Willis of London as
its country representative for various non-life and re-insurance business

As a parishioner of St. James the Great, Matt has chosen to involve himself as an Extra Ordinary
Minister of Holy Communion.   He has also been an active member of the Prisons Ministry under the SJ
COPA Foundation’s Social Action Ministry (SAM) for  three years now.
Matt and Nena have been married for 35 years and have been blessed with two children and two
grandchildren, too.

Nena Simbulan (nee Maclang) has retired from her job at Takeda Philippines and now actively
participates in BEC1 activities, the Legion of Mary and as volunteer catechist for the KST (Kabalikat sa
Tahanan).
